How the “Tinder Generation” is Driving Female Infidelity

Tinder, the world’s most popular hookup app launched in 2012 has had a dramatic yet unsurprising effect on monogamy and consequently married dating sites like Victoria Milan. Victoria Milan has reported a dramatic increase in female users on the site over the last 3 years and cites the “Tinder Generation’ as the driving factor behind it.

This might sound odd to many of you but as a woman who was in her final year of university when Tinder hit the scene I can tell you it is not at all surprising.

Before Tinder first came out only one of my girlfriends was using any dating site whatsoever and I think she went on a total of 2 dates from it over 2 years. But then Tinder hit the scene and just about every single girl I knew (myself included) had a profile and was active. Thanks to Tinder women are now, more than ever, comfortable and experienced with online dating and open to meeting men online. In fact, online dating is now the #1 way women are meeting men for dates.

“One Night Stand” Friendly

Ill admit it I’ve had my share of good fun on Tinder and similar apps and just about every one of my girlfriends has too. Once you have your first one night stand and realize it’s not such a big deal you start to realize that a fun, passion filled, and exciting night is just an app away so why deprive yourself.

The “Tinder Generation” is Now the “Newly Wed Generation”

Women who “grew up” using Tinder in their early to mid 20’s are now married and starting to feel the itch. Many of my friends who actively used Tinder are now, married, engaged, or in long term relationships; So long Tinder fun and hello long term commitments.

Nostalgic for their Fun, Single, Youth

Of my close friends I am now one of only 3 who are still single and I can tell you honestly that my attached girlfriends (especially the ones who have been attached for a while) can’t tell me enough how lucky I am and how much they miss the fun of online dating.

The Honeymoon is Over

It should be no surprise to anyone that after being in a relationship for a while the spark and passion burn out. If i had a dime for every time one of my girlfriends said she missed the validation and excitement she got from matching with attractive guys I would probably have enough to pay for their divorce lawyer ;)

Tinder is No Longer an Option

Here’s the kicker, many of my attached friends readily admit they are dying to use dating apps again BUT the problem is if you’re attached on a dating app it’s only a matter of time before someone catches you. Tinder and other apps connect through facebook, show mutual friends, use your real name, and select pictures from your personal facebook/ instagram account. It’s really just a countdown to when your husbands single friends are going to find you on Tinder and tell him :(

It is for all these obvious reasons and more that sites like Victoria Milan are seeing a dramatic increase in female users and female activity on their sites. Tinder and similar hookup apps have become something of a training ground for women and once they are in relationships and can no longer use tinder discreetly they move on to safer, more anonymous sites and Victoria Milan and their users reap the reward.
