FACT: Looking at your mobile phone during an argument makes your spouse want to cheat

It’s no secret that technology has changed the way we communicate – but what is its impact on our intimate relationships?  A new study reveals that women feel they are in second position after their partner’s mobile phone – and that makes them more willing to cheat.

We have asked 6,254 of Victoria Milan cheating male and female members about the role technology plays in their steady relationships, and it’s clear that men are coming out on top.

The majority of women (68%) believe they take second priority to their partner’s Internet usage, while most men don’t feel technology negatively impacts their primary relationship at all.  However all agree there are certain moments where their partner glancing at a cell phone could drive them to cheat.

Women claim they would go looking for another lover if men check their phones during an argument (33%), before going to sleep (19%) or during a romantic dinner (13%).

On the other hand men say the moments they find most inappropriate for women to check their phones are: immediately after sex (24%), during a romantic dinner (18%) or at a special event (16%).

However, the results also show that technology is helping, rather than hindering, cheating men and women across the world as 7 of every 10 cheaters state to think technology, particularly the internet, is making cheating more possible than before.

Founder and CEO of Victoria Milan, Sigurd Vedal, said the survey confirmed cheating is becoming more accessible, but is seen in a more positive light by men.

“Both men and women strongly agree that technology makes cheating easier than before, and the majority of women assert that without it, it’s unlikely they’d be dabbling in adultery. However, while they commend it, women also claim it is negatively affecting their primary relationship.  Like everything in life, technology has pros and cons,” Mr Vedal said.
