Infidelity: How marriage affects a man's happiness

What’s the secret to a happier marriage?  Results released from a new survey today confirm that the majority of cheating men agree that they were happier before they got married. We have polled 3,565 male members of our members to discover how marriage affects a man’s level of happiness.

Exactly 81% of cheating men say they were happier before they put a ring on it, and believe that while their relationship didn’t change immediately after they said “I do”, but it wasn’t too long after they walked down the aisle, according to 45%. Nearly a quarter says their marriage took a turn for the worse after they had children.

Founder and CEO of Victoria Milan, Sigurd Vedal, said the results clearly show that monogamy is not for everyone, and that having an affair makes for a happier, healthier marriage.

“Men who say marriage is all they ever wanted are in the minority, with nearly half saying their happiness levels ‘could be better’ after they tied the knot.  Only 16% say their relationship remained the same after marriage. A whopping number of men (74%) tell us that having an affair is what gets them, and their partner, through the tough times every marriage faces,” Mr Vedal said.
