Is Infidelity Your New Year resolution...?

We have investigated why so many couples tend to split in January in a new study of more than 9,000 of Victoria Milan members, infidelity dating website. The survey asked our members if they are more likely to divorce in January compared to other months and if so, why.

More than 45 percent believe that they are more interested in divorcing during January, while only 22 percent said they were less interested in divorce in January.

“The holiday season in December isn’t just about gifts or family; for many of our members it also means high expectations and intense interaction with their partner. This makes it hard to ignore what is wrong in the relationship by the time January rolls around,” says Sigurd Vedal, CEO and founder of Victoria Milan.

The largest segment of the infidelity site’s responding members said that intense family requirements during the holiday season are the most serious precipitating cause (44%). In contrast, just under 20% said they simply believe that the new year is the right time for personal change. 17% reported that they argue more in January, and 15% said they just feel like having sex with other people.

“We see that many of our members want to jump-start the year by exploring alternatives to being with their partners instead of just getting divorced. As a result,** during this first half of January we have already registered a spike of 14% more new users per day than in previous months**,” says Victoria Milan CEO Sigurd Vedal.
